About Pediatric Facial Fracture
A child's face is still growing, the bones are more flexible, and adult teeth are developing inside the jaws. Facial fractures are less common than in adults, but an injury can still affect the bite, the eye socket, or later growth.
Treatment is often more conservative than in adults, and any plates are placed so as to avoid the developing teeth. Follow-up continues as the child grows, so the bite and facial growth can be checked over time.
